Celebrating our Alumni
The U.S. Embassy in Slovenia sponsors various exchange programs in conjunction with the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA). People-to-people exchanges enhance mutual understanding between the people of the U.S. and other nations. Over 900 Slovenians have been on exchanges in the 75 years since the US International Exchanges program began in 1940. This year we are celebrating 50 years since the Fulbright with Slovenians began in 1965 and the approximately 400 Slovenians who have been on the Fulbright program since then.
We are committed to supporting alumni of these programs and others who have traveled to the U.S. for significant education or work opportunities by providing resources that will help them to build upon their U.S. exchange experience.
USAlumni is the U.S. Embassy Ljubljana’s umbrella alumni network, which includes all Slovenians, who:
- Traveled to the United States on a U.S. Government-sponsored program, including Fulbright, the Ron Brown Fellowship Program, Ben Franklin, or the International Visitor Leadership Program;
- Participated in the Summer Economics Institute in Slovenia
- Participated in the J1 visa program for Summer Work Travel (SWT) in the United States
- Slovenians who completed their university degree (B.A./B.S., M.A./M.S., PhD, M.D., J.D. , etc.) at a U.S. university and/or worked in a company in the United States in a management position for one year or more may also contact our Alumni Coordinator to become a part of USAlumni.
We want to stay in contact with you, our alumni, and:
- to meet you and hear what you have to say
- to highlight your achievements and successes
- to include you in Embassy events and programs
- to inform you of upcoming Alumni programs, grants, educational opportunities, etc.
- to organize activities that are of mutual benefit
