Deputy Public Affairs Officer Brian Street, a former lawyer, met with international law students from the University of Ljubljana Faculty of Law. They discussed the challenges of consular and diplomatic law, and its implementation and importance in the real life of an American diplomat. He also discussed the U.S. Embassy’s mission and the functions of the various offices and officers.
On a cold winter day we visited OŠ Stična in Višnja gora, where Stephanie Barrett-Zebre delivered an interesting presentation on the state of Hawaii, including its flag, major industries, attractions, food, traditional culture, environment, animals, volcanoes, and beautiful beaches. At the end of the visit, she answered many students’ questions about Hawaii and the United States and left the students dreaming of white sand beaches and tropical weather!
Economic Officer and former college professor Dr. Don Baker introduced the U.S. economy to 50 students at the Economic High School in Ljubljana. Dr. Baker presented on U.S. GDP growth, the inflation rate, trade, the federal budget surplus and U.S.-Slovenian trade. He also answered a lot of students’ questions about many different topics.
