Summer Economics Institute 2018 – 19

US and Slovenian students came together to make a great internship program!

The 7th annual SEI 2018 program is aimed at giving university students a hands-on look at how economics, business and entrepreneurship work through sites visits, targeted lectures and expert talks in a variety of fields, as well as a Lean Start Up program lead by US professor Jay Ebben, organised and funded by the US Embassy Ljubljana, while the Embassy’s partner in the SEI program, AmCham Slovenia, organises month-long internships for each student at its member companies. After two weeks of hard work the students also presented their Lean Start Up projects!

For the first time, this year’s SEI program also included American students. SEI 2018 had 19 students of which 11 were Slovenian and 8 were American. The Americans came to Slovenia on a US-government funded, AmCham Slovenia-organized study abroad program called the European Experience in the Green Heart of Europe, which includes the two-week SEI course and one month internships called shadowing with AmCham Slovenia member companies.
