In cooperation with the Slovenian Museum Association, we sponsored a week-long program on museum management best practices—including dynamic storytelling and narrative creation—conducted by Hannah Kellogg and Jodi Larson from Museums Unbound. Collectively, Hannah and Jodi have been working in the museum world for nearly three decades, from history museums and living history sites, to nature centers and art museums. Their program consisted of interactive workshops that covered a variety of topics, but they specialized in helping their Slovene counterparts design engaging topics and displays. They discussed how museums should treat their visitors, how to offer the the best experience possible, and how to interpret objects and artifacts, all with the goal of shaping the best narrative and creating an optimum storytelling experience in the museum. During their stay in Slovenia, they were impressed with how rich and unique Slovenia’s cultural heritage is and with the motivation and experience of their Slovenian colleagues.
