High School Exchanges

Every year thousands of second level students go to the U.S. to spend three, five or ten months at – mostly public – high schools. Most programs are designed for pupils between the ages of 15 and 18. Pupils live with an American host family and thereby experience life in America and the people of American from a very special perspective.

There are two ways of organizing a high school exchange: going through an exchange organization or organizing it yourself.

Exchange through an Organization

The following are some organizations which organize exchanges :

  1. AFS Intercultural Programs Inc.
  2. Council on International Educational Exchange
  3. Council on Standards for International Educational Travel
  4. U.S. Department of State
