Ambassador Hartley Presents SelectUSA Program to Business Leaders

On February 13, Ambassador Brent Hartley hosted more than 20 leaders from private sector Slovenian companies interested in exporting to or investing in the United States, as well as representatives from Slovenia’s Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, SPIRIT Slovenia, and American Chamber of Commerce.  As Slovenia’s export-based economy grows, Ambassador Hartley noted more and more Slovenian companies were looking to the United States to tap into new markets and expand their businesses.  Jennifer Kane, Counselor for Commercial Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Budapest, touted the advantages of investing and doing business in the United States, including a large and diverse domestic market, transparent legal system, innovative and competitive companies, and one of the least bureaucratic business environments in the world.  Jana Dorbund, Regional Senior Investment Specialist for the Department of Commerce at the U.S. Embassy in Berlin, encouraged the guests to consider attending the Department of Commerce’s June 20-22 SelectUSA Summit in Washington, DC, where more than 4,000 potential investors from around the world will gather to network with potential partners and learn how best to approach the American market to grow their businesses, while Sandi Česko, President and CEO of Studio Moderna, related how the SelectUSA program helped his business grow and prosper in the United States.
